Changes I have seen in 35 years of clinical practice

Major changes in what I am seeing over the 35 years . .

Late ‘70’s – early 80’s  –  people just needed acupuncture only – with lots of moxa and lymphatic drainage, joint mobilizations – or acupuncture and naturopathy – old style – not supplements, but diet changes, Western herbal tinctures with Bach flower remedies included, castor oil packs, red clover tea etc

WHO CAME? Mostly seeing intractable cases – pain, elderly people and their health breakdowns, ‘hopeless’, all medical, and menstrual management – some fertility (‘hopeless’ – prior to IVF). Women scared of birthing, Cigarette cessation and weight cases. Backs and joints

Mid ‘80’s – Gradually as the modern masking problems (not fixing conditions, or why they happened) drugs came on board –  more menstrual leading into pregnancy cases – the elderly now in a minority and the backs off to chiropactors as they start their ascendancy and physios follow with osteopaths. More reliance on supplements, as well as treatment. Practice also evolved into using a few patent Chinese herbs.

WHO CAME? More cancer desperation; pain cases reduced as anti inflammatories and HRT taking over the market place. General life upsets and stress starting up. Laproscopies and arthroscopies starting to change face of practice.

Patients – Added in AIDS by early ‘90’s – less migraines, bleeding stomach and duodenal ulcers, pain cases lessened .

Still not large emphasis on Chinese herbs yet .. acupuncture mainly

Mid – late 90’s . .I started using more Chinese herbs and greater reliance on actual naturopathic supplements – not Western herbs.

WHO CAME? Influx of fertility – male esp pre ICSI) as the women are now on IVF (consequence of using all those contraceptives now a new generation of babies born through all the changes?) and menstrual problems starting to be ‘dealt’ with surgically with laser and new drugs. Endo diagnosis and scanning.  More likely to have been born of woman on pill etc themselves.

Much more supplements and Chinese herbs as TCM style only taught – starting to have Japanese/classical acupuncture division.

Clinic changed as people had choices (and health care insurance) – whereas before they were coming in out of desperation – now they choose what kind of health care – initially was nothing else and bottom-of-bucket option.  More mainstream thinkers now, with specific health directives and were more likely to shop about modalities – initially they were after acupuncture as it worked for pain and when nothing else did.

2000’s – IVF major feature, pregnancy less so, as the market changed with C sections on demand and gross medicalisations of birthing created a whole new look to practice – self entitled not desperates . .

WHO CAME? Medical refugees, plus those who just want a specific job done as all others are attending to everything else . . . a drug to mask most life events. Retail industry replaces health care.

2010 – now far more so – What used to work, does now not.

Life pace and habits are emerging as the sole problems for all as no time to be.

WHO COMES? Those stressed, distressed and desperate  – who may just need to get out of their lives and live the life their parents did when they came in with real problems – as their bodies were breaking down – now it is broken lives and hearts.

All on supplements as basics no longer there – and even with herbs – may not make much of a long term impact as all too away from what life was – and should be.

What needed now: an entire overhaul of all things.

We used to see the allergic to the world people in the 80’s – where are there now?
Doped up with ????

Need to detoxify and simplify – not just pop a pill and have a session with a good therapist.  Please see how as this makes the most difference.

See how I personally found a clearer, happier (and thinner) body.

All nutrients now ore easily recognised so so much less health concerns when what you add in (food) actually gets used.

Two major words – Nutrients and flows
